Raymond Lupkas

Dr. Raymond “Ray” Lupkas is a Board Certified Anesthesiologist, who enjoys working with surgeons and staff as a team to provide the most comfortable anesthesia experience for his patients.
Dr. Lupkas hails from Trumbull, CT and graduated from Hahnemann University School of Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. While fulfilling his internship requirements, he fully anticipated entering the Orthopedic Surgery field but soon found that Anesthesiology was a lot more fun. After serving in the U. S. Army as a Command Surgeon in Germany and Anesthesiologist at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC, Dr. Lupkas headed south where he enjoyed a 22-year career at First Health in Pinehurst, NC. Dr. Lupkas joined Sandhills Oral Surgery & Implant Dentistry in the summer of 2003.
Not every patient at Sandhills Oral Surgery & Dentistry gets to meet Dr. Lupkas, but if it is determined that a patient is a general anesthesia candidate, you can rest assured that you are in good hands with him. He says, “there is always a degree of mystery and fear with the process of anesthesia”, but his goal is to educate the patient and answer any questions that the patient has to help ease their minds and know that they are in the best hands for the course of their treatment.
Outside of anesthesiology, Dr. Lupkas has a love of engines including airplanes, motorcycles, and cars. He is a “techie” at heart and has taught himself database programming. When he is not in Fayetteville, you may find him in Southern Pines where he founded his very own MedSpa at which he is also the Attending Physician. He is the proud father of four grown daughters with whom he loves spending time searching for his next favorite steakhouse or cruising the to the beach or mountains.
